Covariance matrix

Hi everyone
I’m trying to do the exercise 3.12 from Ros Navigation course. I’ve checked the solution in order to solve the covariance calculation and I dont understand whats the meaning of the different elements from the covariance matrix. i.e why is cov_y calculate as pose.covariance[7]?
