SLAM for industrial robots

Hi all,

Do you have any ideas about how to get some information to implement localization, SLAM and path planning algorithms for robots which looks like Climbot: A modular bio-inspired biped climbing robot, or PiRoB: Pole Climbing Robot, or any other robots that looks like universal robots with two grippers at the end joints and using this grippers to move on pipes.
