Hello, I need more explanation about ROS distribution and why most people choose Kinetic. I am not sure about this, since my background is not a software developer. Thank You

Well I can’t really tell why most people choose Kinetic, I guess that depends on each particular case. However, Kinetic is a LTS (Long Term Support) distribution which has been working for some years already. This implies that there are lots of packages that are working on this distribution (and may not be ported yet to more recent distributions). However, it should be totally fine to start working with Melodic (which is also a supported distribution), for instance.
