When I launch people.launch, it runs for some seconds but no detection happens at all. Then it fails with the error in the screenshot

I’ve been doing some tests in this unit and it’s working ok for me. I see the error message shared in the image reports an X Window error, which happens sometimes the first time you launch the graphical program. If you run again the same command, it should work OK.
