After executing “ssh student@127.0.0.1 -p 8090” I am asked the password but doesn’t let me type anything or exit. Tried restarting, same result.

It actually does let you type, but you don’t get to see what you are typing (for security reasons). Just write the password carefully and press enter, and you will login.
